As part of the main campus of the University of the Philippines System <UP System> the national university by virtue of Republic Act 9500, College of Home Economics understands the resources, processes, rationale, responsibilities and opportunities that make the home and family effective parts of the social fabric and significant contributors to the economy and development of the country. The college is part of the Science and Technology cluster of the UP Diliman campus, alongside with College of Architecture, Engineering, Science, School of Statistics, School of Library and Information Studies and Archaeological Studies Program. College of Home Economics occupies about 4000 square meters of prime land in the campus, offering a comprehensive array of disciplines in the baccalaureate and post baccalaureate levels. As of 2016, CHE has 17 academic programs, 7 of which are on the undergraduate level and 10 on the graduate levels.Established by the BOR on July 27, 1961, CHE continues to mold students with core values while making an impact on society. Currently, the College of Home Economics has 1147 students, of which 1000 are on the undergraduate level and 147 on the graduate level. In keeping with current developments in the various fields of discipline in the college, improvement and upgrade of building and facilities are persistently pursued. The renovation of CIDL and Gusali 2 has just been completed and currently the Phase 1 of the CHE Complex has commenced. This includes the CHE Museum and the building of the Department of Family Life and Child Developemt (FLCD) and the UP Child Development Center (UPCDC)
