The College of Home Economics (CHE) endeavored to form its own research ethics committee (REC) to help the faculty, staff, and students who will implement research projects. In 2018, this endeavor was acted upon by the Office of Research and Publications (ORP) and the pioneer members of the REC were selected with approval of the Dean of CHE. Through the collective efforts of the ORP members and the leadership of Dr. Maria Patricia V. Azanza, the UP College of Home Economics Research Ethics Committee (UPCHE REC) was officially granted Level 1 accreditation by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) on October 2, 2020.

The UPCHE REC currently only accepts protocol submissions from students, faculty, and research staff from the College of Home Economics, UP Diliman.

Purpose of the UPCHE REC

The UPCHE REC ensures the ethical standards and scientific soundness of research conducted in the College of Home Economics to protect the rights, safety, dignity and privacy of human participants involved in the research. The REC reviews and monitors research involving human participants to ensure that it adheres to ethical principles in accordance with national and international guidelines and regulations.
