Designing spaces of healing and growth

The UP BS Interior Design Class of 2023 has completed its renovation project under ID 179 (Special Project in Interior Design). Their collective effort paved the way for the upgrading of their chosen beneficiary, the Kuya Center for Street Children, located in Barangay Immaculate Concepcion, Quezon City. The 29-strong team members coined their mission as Project Akbay , gruelled the required steps of planning, conceptualization, and contract administration before the turnover of the refurbished areas, which include the receiving area, the main and dining area, the exterior, the administrative office and filing room; the educational room; the kitchen, and the laundry.

The Department of Clothing, Textiles, and Interior Design, represented by their class adviser- Assistant Professor Joseph G. Taluban, Jr., is proud to present their accomplishment that has once again demonstrated the relevance of Interior Design in shaping our communities. The department’s unwavering service-learning advocacy for the past two decades has improved the lives of families, individuals and those who are part of vulnerable sectors.
